Chobe Rive Boat Cruise

The Chobe River and the Flood Plains are a magnificent sight to behold, with scenes so expansive all around you that you can see forever and a day to the back of beyond. This is ideal wild- game viewing territory. At times it’s all one large lake, but mostly the Chobe River meanders through plains on one side and edges the incredible Chobe National Park on the other. It’s from this 11,770-square-kilometre wilderness that a plethora of animals arrive to slake their thirst or, in many cases, to graze on the lush grasses stretching from one horizon to another.

What better, then, than to be cruising gently along the shallow river and into its side-channels and creeks to view at close hand what comprises ‘Nature’s Call’ on this particular day. Elephant in large herds or small groups are almost a guarantee…and you’ll thrill to the sight of multiple antelope species, grazing contently but with an instinctive eye on lurking crocodiles. Hippos and their cute calves honk, splash and communicate noisily. Maybe you’ll witness a kill by lions, a leopard, hyena, jackal or caracul…spell-binding predators all. Just the right time your guide will offer beer, wine or cool drinks, affording quieter moments to observe some of the 460 bird species that seasonally proliferate in the area. It’s Raw Africa on call.
